  CPALMS:     CPALMS is Florida's official online resource for education standards and high quality teaching resources for K-12 educators, students, and their families.  These resources are often interactive, accessible and engaging. The best part: they are developed right here at Florida State University's Learning Systems Institute!  As a future educator, it is motivating to know fellow 'Noles are involved in the creation of curriculum and standards for the state.  One of the standards that featured educational technology and called my attention was ELA .12.C.5 : Design and evaluate digital presentations for effectiveness; Create, publish and share multimedia texts through a variety of digital formats.  These are the standards for 12th grade English Language Arts, which task the students with both creating and evaluating their original work for accuracy and effectiveness, important for them to develop the skills to excel in post-secondary education....

     Working on the web design assignment was challenging for me, as this was the first time I ever designed a website.  By exploring the web design tools and some trial and error, I was able to discover how to make my website turn out accessible, informative, and aesthetically pleasing.  To design it effectively, I used CRAP: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity.  The resources I feature on my website are essential for students success, and since less is more and overwhelming students with non-essential information is not beneficial, following this acronym was a great way to meet my goal: clear contrast between the background and text makes it easy to read, repeating the font all across keeps design uniform, and proximity allows for the related items to be together, ultimately clarifying information for the audience.  What I liked the most about this assignment is that it was practice for the "real-world".  In the future, I will most li...

     While exploring the Leon County school pages, I came across a teacher's page that I liked: Ms. Geiger's Class Page .  She features information about her office hours, school email, and Remind; as well as other resources for her three classes: AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, and Humanities.  Resources include Quizlets, YouTube videos, articles, and questions based on the readings.  Looking at other teachers' pages, I noticed that there are plenty who do not feature content or assignments, but instead use the page to simply display their contact information and share a little bit about themselves.  In my opinion, it is more useful for students to have access to assignments and content, but I understand that they probably already use a Learning Management System like Canvas, or Google Classroom and it would be redundant to update two sites simultaneously.       In the future, I envision myself using a variety of technology to ac...
